On Saturday the 7th of April at the Atlantic Base Ball Grounds in Smithville LI,
the Neshanock Base Ball Club of
Flemington played its first two matches of
the season at the grounds of the
Atlantic Base Ball Club of
Brooklyn in Smithtown, New York. In
the opening match, the Neshanock
played the Atlantics with The Brooklyn
Club winning by six runs. After a brief
respite, the Flemington Club played the
Gotham Club of New York and lost
the match by a score of 17-10. In the second match, the Neshanock recorded
the first triple play in club history.

On Saturday the 14th of April at the great enclosed base ball grounds in Somerset NJ, the Neshanock opposed their longtime rivals, the Elizabeth Resolutes. The match was finely played by both clubs, with the Resolutes securing the victory in 10 innings by a score of 6 to 5. Though rivals on the field, warm congratulations and hearty handshakes were shared after the match and many future matches were scheduled.

On Saturday the 21st of April at the home of the Mutual Base Ball Club in Bethpage, LI, the Neshanock played two base ball matches in the quest of the prestigious NY / NJ Championship Cup. Though the Neshanock were able to secure a victory in the first match against the Manetto Hill Surprise, who were without many of their star players, they were unfortunately beaten in a well played match in the second, losing to the famous New York Mutuals. The Mutuals were able to secure the Cup this time, but are well aware the Neshanock have many excellent ballists and will be back again next year for the prize.
